FRAME type approval plate
Body type approval plate #87501-205-040 (87501 207-030 for CB95) was glued on right side bottom of the frame.
By Ministry of transport, II-358 and II-1016 were numbered for CB92 Engine and CB92 frame respectively.
My friend Kozo has twice found 87501-205-610 plate for German export model stuck on left side of the body.
Please refer to attached photo of type approval plates of some old Honda motorbikes.
A motorcycle with engine over 125cc and less than 250cc is categorized as Light motor vehicle.
Therefore CB95 and CB72 are in the same category.

Frame Number information & Location
The method of numbering CB92's adheres to the following protocol.
On '59 and early '60 bikes, the frame number is on the headstock, on later '60 (about frame number 1000) it is located on the left hand side of the frame just below the toolbox.
1959 - 60 Location 1961 - 64 Location
1959 are prefixed with 59 and follow the convention CB92-59-910000 on
They use six digit numbers starting with 91, so they are 91****
Early 1960 are prefixed with 60 and follow the convention CB92-60-010000 on
They use six digit numbers starting with 01, so they are 01****
Later in 1960 (about after number 1000) and subsequent years the year number is dropped
and the subsequent years follow the convention CB92-1100000 on. located on the LHS by side cover.
See pictures above
1961 uses seven digit numbers starting with 11, so they are 11*****
Don't ask us why the 1964 system changed , we don't know.

Engines are normally within plus 30 of the frame, but we know of one bike getting an engine numbered within 3 of the frame and the very next frame got an engine numbered 44 later. This adds to the theory of Honda parts bin method of assembly
